Terrific.

That's all. Nice work. Take on some new challenges cause you've got this short-form, creative nonfiction thing licked.

And stop underestimating yourself.

Great post...Funny, I just blogged about my dreams of being a writer just yesterday! Life is too short to wait until everything's perfect, and I think those are just excuses we give ourselves so we don't have to face our real fears. So, good luck...You write brilliantly and I'm sure you'll be successful! :)

I'll stand in line to say it: "You are a writer."

This post is fab. I laughed aloud at: “Yeah, you got that from your father.”

The images made me tingle.

I'm going to a week-long writer's workshop in March in Hawaii. You should come...

Neil

Think how boring it would be in North Carolina. What would you write about?

Schnozz

OK, I am trying to contain my ardent passion for you. I am trying. Have I bothered you? No. Have I stood outside your apartment holding a boombox? No.

But if you keep writing like this, YOU WILL LEAVE ME NO CHOICE.

Moose

Not to vehemently disagree or heckle but what's this "not a writer" crap? I would like to stringently disagree. And beg you to do more of this not-writing.

Work in Progress

This was a long post, and I'm new to your blog. It says oodles about your writing that I not only read the whole post, but that I enjoyed doing so.

Sometimes life offers us the best material, and you seem to convey it eloquently.

margot

Excellent post! It's a lot of fun to read such a well-composed blog where I get to experience my city through an entirely new (to me) set of eyes.

I've blown a lot of things, but never a gasket. I did blow a seal once.

Alison

Honey, if you are not a writer, then I'm a...oh, I don't know.

But you're a writer. Believe it.

teresa

Just stumbled on your blog.
Great writing.
I didn't want it to end!

Have you ever thought about submitting your non-fiction stuff? It's a sucky process, but it might make things feel more real for you.

Oh, I like guys who can make or fix things...Unless they're jerks. I used to date guys who had dogs and who could fix my car when I was younger, but then I realized most of them weren't worth it. Triple A is an excellent idea.

Margaret

My dad cusses at thngs while he fixes, Triple A is much better!

I think this might be my favorite your posts. Really. I can absolutely relate. (Except for the log cabin part. Dark, secluded areas make me uncomfortable.)

Look at all of the other stuff (the parts of life you have to deal with while not writing) as fodder you can use to enrich your work. That's what I try to think every time I have to do something awful or soul depleting for my day job. Like go to Winnipeg, Canada in the middle of February when it's 60 degrees below zero.

I really enjoy your writing.

Since grade school I’ve dreamt about becoming a philosopher—bazaar, but true. Recently, the itch became unbearable; I sent applications to grad school and hope that it works out. If it doesn’t, I know I that I tried and that is good enough for me. Thank you for writing this.

So when does someone who writes become a Writer?

Melissa

Came to your blog from inthelifeof.org. Love your writing style! I love the honesty!

heather

Oh, it does just fine. You're incredibly gifted and I'm glad I've stumbled across your blog. I'm working my way through this chronologically and you make me homesick for Chicago, my old hometown of 12 years. Would you mind if I added you to my blogroll?
